LAGOS ISLAND MODEL CITY PLAN: LASG POSTPONES STAKEHOLDERS MEETING

The Lagos State Government has postponed the final stakeholders meeting on Lagos Island Model City Plan, earlier scheduled for Tuesday, 11th July 2023 at the MUSON Centre, Onikan.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Engr. Oluwole Sotire made this known in Alausa at the weekend.
The Permanent Secretary, who assured that a new date would soon be communicated, said that the postponement of the event was due to logistic reasons and a review of timelines with the consultants.

Sotire urged members of the public not to confuse the proposed stakeholders meeting on the Lagos Island Model City Plan with another programme of the Ministry, which had also been scheduled to hold simultaneously at different halls of the MUSON Centre.

He stressed that the other meeting,  which is based on the new initiatives of the Certified Accreditor Programme (CAP) and the Certificate of Structural Integrity Programme (CSIP), would hold as planned.

In continuation of the series of public engagement on the new initiatives, the Ministry is billed to meet and dialogue with members of Professional Associations in the built environment on the CAP and CSIP at the MUSON Centre, Onikan on Tuesday, 11th July 2023.

Sotire assured that both the CAP and CSIP would herald a new dawn of efficiency, combat incessant building collapse and boost public confidence in the system with the involvement of private professionals in regulatory activities in the built environment sector of Lagos State.

“These initiatives together with others, such as the preparation of Masterplans, of which the Lagos Island Model City Plan is a significant part, indicate the determination of the State Government to enhance livability and Make Lagos State a 21st Century Economy as contained in the blueprint of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu Administration”, he said.
