PUBLIC SERVICE WEEK: LAGOS HONOURS 753 PUBLIC SERVANTS WITH LONG SERVICE AWARD 


The Lagos State Government has honoured a total of 753 officers with the Long Service Merit Award as part of activities marking the Year 2023 Public Service Week.


The Lagos State Head of Service Mr. Hakeem Muri- Okunola said the Award is designed to recognise and reward diligence, commitment and loyalty amongst Public Servants in Lagos State, in the hope and expectation that the gesture will demonstrate the appreciation and gratitude of government and the people while serving to encourage and motivate other public servants to keep up the tradition of service of excellence.


Muri-Okunola made the pronouncement on Tuesday at the Year 2023 Long Service Merit Awards held at Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, adding that the award was for the State Government to celebrate Public Servants who have served the government and people of Lagos State diligently and conscientiously for 30 years or more and in the course of this period, have made significant contributions to the development and prosperity of the State.


“The Long Service Merit Award represents an opportunity for us, as a State Government, to celebrate public servants who have served the government and people of Lagos State diligently and conscientiously for 30 years or more and in the course of this period, have made significant contributions to the development and prosperity of the State”, Muri-Okunola said.


He congratulated and felicitated with the proud recipients of the award, and assured them that the State Government would continue to appreciate their commitment, loyalty, sacrifices and numerous contributions over the years to the development of the state.


His words, “While I congratulate and felicitate with the proud recipients of today’s award, let me assure you that the State Government fully appreciates your commitment, loyalty, sacrifices and numerous contributions over the years to the development of the State”.


“As you receive this recognition awards today, I urge you not to rest on your oars, but continue to exhibit the high sense of duty and responsibility, among other qualities and values for which you are being honoured today”, he added..

Also in her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola rejoiced with the awardees and their families, just as she congratulated them for meritorious service. 

She prayed they would not use the rest of their years in sickness but in sound health and mind.
