TRUST GOVERNOR SANWO-OLU’S LEADERSHIP – OMOTOSO
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso has called on the people of Lagos State to continue to give unwavering support to the Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
He made this known in response to a question during an interview at the RadioLagos/Eko FM during a working visit to the station and Lagos Television, adding that the Governor was committed to the welfare of the people.
He recalled that immediately after the subsidy of petrol was removed, Sanwo-Olu slashed the fees payable on BRT buses and the Blue Line Rail by half and extended palliatives to many homes. The impact of the 50 percent reduction, he noted, has a great impact on the cost of commuting from one place to the other.
He promised that the Red Line Rail would soon come on board as the Governor was doing everything possible to further ease the burden of transportation in the State.
The Commissioner also noted that the recent closure of some markets was occasioned by the need to prevent epidemics and other health issues that might arise from trading in filthy environments. He said it was more dangerous to leave markets where foodstuffs are sold to the public in an unsanitary condition than to shut them for a short period to allow for cleaning of the markets.
Omotoso said all the measures taken to rid all public places of filth and flooding were taken in the overall interest of the wellbeing of the people of the State and urged the people to protect all property and projects of government by reporting vandals and environment abusers to the government and law enforcement officers.
During the visit, he charged the management of the State Broadcasting Stations to position themselves as the foremost sources of breaking news and reliable media outfits that the public will depend upon for confirmation of stories in these days of fake news.
After inspecting the facilities of Radio Lagos/Eko FM and Lagos Television (LTV) the Commissioner revealed that the present administration’s primary goal was to position State media outlets at the forefront of productivity, professionalism, international best practices, and ensure that they can compete effectively with other media organisations.
Omotoso reiterated Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for the staff, providing essential tools, training, and other resources for effective and efficient service delivery. The drive to elevate the State-owned media to world-class standards is emblematic of the belief that in today’s interconnected world, global competitiveness is vital.
