SANWO-OLU CONGRATULATES DIOCESE OF LAGOS ON 35TH SYNOD
… Pledges Commitment To Good Governance
Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has congratulated the Diocesan Bishop of Lagos, the Right Reverend Ifedola Senasu Okupevi, and members of the Anglican Communion for successfully hosting the Third Session of the 35th Synod of the Diocese.
This was contained in his address at the opening ceremony of the Synod at Our Saviour’s Church, Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos.
The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, commended the Bishop and the House of Clergy for their spiritual leadership, urging them to establish a positive legacy for future generations to follow.
Reflecting on the Synod’s theme, “Preach the Word, Be Prepared in Season and out of Season”, Sanwo-Olu emphasised its relevance to contemporary believers. He encouraged Christians to remain steadfast in preaching the unadulterated word of God, correcting those in error, speaking out against wrongdoings and offering encouragement with empathy and love.
He also quoted and referred to John 10:10 which says that “The thief cometh not but for to steal and to kill and to destroy but I have come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly”.
He emphasised that the text not only resonates deeply with the Synod theme but is most applicable and relevant to our society
today. He therefore implored all Ministers of God not to relent in their effort to preach the word of God in season and out of season, wherever they find themselves as obviously, and undoubtedly the word of God is the only solution to the troubles and aches presently being experienced across the world.
Sanwo-Olu reassured attendees of his administration’s dedication to providing good governance through the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Developmental Agenda. He also requested continuous prayers from the Bishop and all clergymen for the Lagos State Government and the Federal Government of Nigeria, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as they work towards revitalising the nation’s economy for sustainable growth and development.
In his remarks, the President of the Synod, Ifedola Senasu Okupevi, commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for implementing people-centric policies aimed at enhancing Lagos State’s prosperity.
The President, Women and Girls’ Organisation, Diocese of Lagos and the wife of the Host Bishop, Mrs. Modupe Roseline presented a gift to the Governor for gracing the occasion.

Ajayi Oladele and his spouse, Mrs. Olanike Oladele; Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Sanwo-Olu, Mr. Gboyega Soyanwo; Commissioner, Home Affairs, Hon.
