SANWO-OLU APPROVES APPOINTMENT OF ENGR. ABDUL AS NEW GENERAL MANAGER OF LSMTL
The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the appointment of Engr. Olayinka Abdul as the Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory Agency (LSMTL) for a Four-Year term, effective from 27th May, 2024.
A statement signed by the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro said the appointment is in recognition of Engr. Abdul’s impressive track record as an Engineer and expects her to demonstrate a high level of dedication, diligence, and selflessness in the discharge of her duties to justify the confidence and trust reposed in her by Mr. Governor.
Meanwhile, Engr. (Mrs.) Olayinka Abdul, the First Female General Manager of the Agency has officially assumed Office. In her maiden meeting with the management and staff of the Agency, Abdul assured them of her absolute commitment towards the progress of the LSMTL in line with the THEMES Agenda of the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu Administration.
While urging the workforce to be vanguards of enviable work relationships, she enjoined them to enhance proficiency that is particularly directed by the sincerity of purpose in achieving the stated objectives of the Agency.
The General Manager said, “Posterity is a major component that fosters effective managerial processes. If we are deliberate in putting smiles on the faces of subordinates for progress by using rewards for hard work, it stimulates dedicated service delivery. Thus, let’s be keen on setting a legacy that is underscored by honesty, commitment and progress in helping people dedicate themselves to optimal performance”.
Mrs. Olayinka Abdul is a Chartered and Registered Engineer with the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Council of Regulation of Engineering Practice in Nigeria (COREN) and an Associate member of the Nigerian Institute of Management. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the prestigious University of Ibadan, Nigeria, a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomosho, Oyo State. She also has a Master’s degree in Project Management (MSC) from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom.
She is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, a member, Board of Trustees of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, a Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers, the Past President, Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) registered member, Society of Women Engineers, USA and Registered member, International Network of Women Scientist and Engineers (INWES).
She began her career as a Civil Engineer, working as an Inspector with Reid Crowther International under the Lagos State World Bank Assisted Water Project. She had a brief stint at Lans Consult, Lagos, and was responsible for designing and supervising structural members in buildings before joining the service of the Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (LSDPC) in 2000 as a Senior Engineer.
She rose through the ranks and became the Head, Civil/Structures in LSDPC before her redeployment to the Lagos State Public Works Corporation as Director, Civil Engineering in June 2019, where she served until she was appointed the General Manager, Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory Agency.
