The Executive Chairman, Epe Local Government, Princess Surah Animashaun has awarded a bursary award of N50,000:00 each to 50 indigent students of Epe Local Government Area.
According to the Chairman, the first phase of the award which took place recently at the Council Secretariat is aimed to support and empower indigent undergraduate students from Epe currently enrolled at various recognised tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
“I recognize the importance of education in shaping the future of our community and also acknowledge the financial constraints many of you face in pursuing your dreams. This Bursary Award Programme is my response to those challenges. I believe that every student deserves access to quality education, regardless of their financial background,” Animashaun said.
She enjoined the recipient of the bursary award to make judicious use of the money and make Epe Local Government proud in whatever field they found themselves in their various higher institutions.
Comrade Rahmon Saheed, the Youth Representative, described the Chairman as a mother and a good listener and commended her for the great initiative, adding that Hon. Animashaun’s leadership has changed the narrative in Epe positively.
Hon. Shittu Aliu Idowu, the Education Secretary, Epe equally applauded the Chairman’s commitment to educational development, saying “This bursary award programme demonstrates Hon. Animashaun’s dedication to empowering Epe’s future leaders”.
Comrade Yusuff Kazeem, who recently emerged as the Best Teacher in the Secondary School category in Nigeria also expressed gratitude to the Executive Chairman for her support and equally advised the beneficiaries to continue to make the Chairman and Epe proud with judicious use of the bursary benefits.
The beneficiaries thanked the Chairman for the kind gesture, promising to utilise the funds judiciously. “We are grateful for this support and pledge to make the most of this opportunity”.
The high point of the occasion is the presentation of cash to the beneficiaries by the Executive Chairman.
