The Lagos State House of Assembly has pledged its commitment to supporting Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL) in expanding its capacity and enhancing its efficiency to better serve Lagosians.
This was revealed by the Chairman of the House Committee on Transportation, Honourable Adedeji Temitope, during the committee’s oversight visit to LBSL headquarters, located at Ilupeju, along the Anthony-Oshodi Expressway.
Honourable Adedeji emphasised the need for robust policy support to empower LBSL, enabling the company to meet the evolving demands of Lagos’ public transportation network. “Our visit today is aimed at understanding the challenges faced by LBSL and identifying areas where the House can provide legislative assistance. We believe that with the right support, LBSL can continue to deliver safe, efficient, and globally competitive mobility solutions”, he stated.
The Chairman commended the performance of LBSL, noting that the company has consistently provided reliable transportation services, particularly during the ongoing global energy crisis, which highlights the importance of public transport as a sustainable and cost-effective alternative for Lagosians.
In response, Mr. Idowu Oguntona, Managing Director/CEO of LBSL, expressed his gratitude to the House Committee for their unwavering support.
He assured the committee that LBSL would continue to work closely with the Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Dr. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, to ensure that Lagosians enjoy a world-class public transport system.
Mr. Oguntona reaffirmed LBSL’s commitment to delivering innovative and sustainable solutions that will further transform Lagos’s transport landscape.
