OFFICE OF INTERNAL AUDIT ORGANISES MEDICAL SCREENING FOR STAFF

The Lagos State Office of Internal Audit has held a one-day Wellness and Medical Screening for Internal Auditors across the state, reaffirming its commitment to the health and well-being of its staff. The programme is part of ongoing efforts to ensure that employees are fit, focused, and able to deliver optimal performance in their professional duties.

Speaking at the Wellness Programme, the Permanent Secretary of the Office of Internal Audit, Mrs. Kikelomo Arinola Dawodu highlighted the direct connection between health and productivity, stating, “Officers in good health discharge their duties effectively and maintain high standards of productivity.”

She further emphasised that the health screening is an annual event aimed at promoting awareness of personal health among internal auditors, allowing them to take proactive steps in maintaining their well-being.

During the event, participants were enlightened on critical health topics, including the significance of periodic medical checkups, the role of mental health in overall wellness, and the benefits of regular exercise and a balanced diet. The programme served as a reminder of the holistic approach needed to maintain a healthy lifestyle, even in demanding work environments.

Dr. Oluwatosin Isa, Head of the Medical team, underscored the importance of prioritising health despite the busy schedules of auditors. “No matter how demanding your workload is, it’s essential to take care of your health. Adequate rest and routine health checks are keys to sustaining your energy and focus,” he advised.

In addition, representatives from the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) encouraged participants to enrol in and maximise the benefits of the Lagos State Health Insurance Scheme, initiated by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. They also provided detailed information about recent enhancements to the scheme, designed to offer even more comprehensive health coverage, ensuring that both preventive care and medical treatments are accessible to all public servants.

The initiative reflects the Lagos State Government’s commitment to the well-being of its workforce, recognising that healthy employees are essential to the effective functioning of public services.
