ACQUAINT YOURSELVES WITH KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS FOR SAFE WATERWAYS – PSSDC
The Acting Director-General, Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), Mr. Olushola Ayodeji Kolawole, has charged the Water Guard Corps of Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) to acquaint themselves with knowledge, skills and attitude that promote safe and orderly water transportation in the State in order to ensure the realisation of the Traffic Management and Transportation Pillar of the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda.
Kolawole gave the charge at commencement of a three-day workshop on Safety, Security and Process Improvement held at the Centre for staff of LASWA, advising the participants to continually improve their capacity to deliver as members of the Water Guard Corps. He urged the team to institutionalise the culture of health and safety, prevent accidents on ferry services, and reduce the risks associated with water transportation in Lagos State.
Assuring participants that seasoned and widely exposed facilitators would facilitate learning, the acting Director-General hinted that the programme would discuss the overview of the Lagos State Development Plan, T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda, Lagos State Public Service Rules and Conditions of Service, among other topics.
Also speaking at the event, General Manager of LASWA, Mr. Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, represented by Director, Admin and Human Resource, Mr. Olasile Fakunmoju, advised the participants to be open-minded and actively involved to benefit from the wealth of experience that will be shared by the facilitators for improved service delivery in the Lagos State Water Transportation System.
Emmanuel also urged the Water Guard Corps to take the training seriously and reflect it in their duties so as to encourage the Lagos State Waterways Authority to organise more training sessions for officers in the future.
