The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has recorded another set of graduands in Film Training under its Lagos State Creative Industry Initiative (LACI) in Partnership with EbonyLife Creative Academy signaling the end of training for the Year 2022.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony held recently at EbonyLife Place Victoria Island, the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture Pharm. Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf congratulated the graduands and expressed her happiness that another batch of Trainees under the partnership with EbonyLife Academy has been successfully trained.
Akinbile-Yussuf, represented by CEO/Director of the Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture, Mr. Idowu Johnson, said the initiative is targeted at equipping youths with necessary creative skills that would make them stand out in the film industry as well as providing job opportunities for the unemployed.
In his words, “I am particularly delighted that we are already on the path towards producing practitioners in the filmmaking value chain who would change the narratives in the industry as we continue to produce competent filmmakers through this productive partnership with EbonyLife Creative Academy”.
While advising the graduands on the need to maximise the knowledge acquired, she declared that they have just started their journey and must make themselves relevant by prioritising professionalism as against quick fixes or desire to make quick gains.
The Commissioner informed them that apart from training them free of charge, the Government is going to support them with loan facilities through the Lagos Film Fund, urging the graduands to continue to be good ambassadors of the Lagos State Government and the Academy
The Head of the School, Mr. Drikus Volschenik was full of gratitude to the Lagos State Government, stating that Lagos is the only State in Nigeria that contributes so much to the development of the Creative Sector and Youth Empowernment.
