HEFAMAA TO UPGRADE ELECTRONIC PLATFORM TO EASE REGISTRATION

(L-R) Assistant Director, Scientific, HEFAMAA, Mrs. Olukemi Oluyoyin; Medical Officer of Health (MOH), PHC, Oke-Eletu, Dr. Tajudeen Saheed and Head, Monitoring Unit, HEFAMAA, Dr. Daniel Olayinka.

The Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA) has initiated moves to upgrade its electronic platform to ease the registration and renewal of health facilities in the State.

The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr. Abiola Idowu, disclosed this on Friday at a sensitisation and advocacy campaign on the roles and responsibilities of HEFAMAA in Ikorodu Local Government.

Idowu, who was represented by the Head, Monitoring Unit of the Agency, Dr. Daniel Olayinka, explained that all existing healthcare facilities are required by law to renew their registration annually through its electronic portal, adding that it is also mandatory for new facilities to register with the Agency before commencing operations in order to safeguard the health of the citizenry.

She explained that the campaign is aimed at keeping the public abreast of responsibilities, programmes and activities of the agency, as well as the Lagos State Government’s zero-tolerance for quackery, to safeguard the health of residents.

Dr. Idowu said, “Through the awareness campaign, members of the public are also advised of the need to expose quacks, who parade themselves as professionals, so that the health of our people can be protected”.

Some members of the public, who spoke at the event, thanked the State Government for the initiative, promising that they will continue to support the Agency in sensitising residents in their various communities on the dangers inherent in patronising unregistered medical facilities and report such health institutions so that they desist from their nefarious acts.

The campaign team also visited Community Leaders, Primary Healthcare Centres as well as General Hospitals in Ikorodu and Ijede, among others.
