LAGOS DSVA HOSTS UNFPA REGIONAL AMBASSADOR
The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) on Friday hosted Mrs. Stephanie Okereke Linus, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Regional Goodwill Ambassador on Maternal and Reproductive Health for West and Central Africa, at its Novel House office in Alausa, Ikeja.
The Executive Secretary of DSVA, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi while receiving the UNFPA Regional Ambassador, said she was elated by the visit which doubled as a courtesy call and a reaffirmation of Mrs. Linus’s commitment to the fight against the SGBV menace.
Vivour-Adeniyi highlighted areas the Agency looked forward to more collaborative efforts, especially with the upcoming Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness Month which is targeted at the various sectors of society.
Whilst commending the Agency for the laudable programmes and activities in the quest to bring an end to the scourge of Domestic and Sexual Violence in the State, Linus stressed the need for all tiers of government as well as the private sector to be involved in the war against SGBV.
She expressed the need for amplified collaborations on issues of gender-based violence at both the state and national levels, leveraging the structure and operations of the DSVA.
Mrs. Linus also pledged to continue to use her craft and various platforms to drive the zero tolerance message even as she commended the Lagos State Government for demonstrating the requisite political will to eradicate the scourge in the society.
