The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), in collaboration with Onigbongbo LCDA, on Thursday organised a Healthy Living Fitness Walk to raise awareness about Domestic and Sexual Violence at Onigbongbo LCDA
Executive Secretary of DSVA, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi said the event provided a valuable opportunity for the Agency to educate the public on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), emphasising the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
She told participants that SGBV perpetrators are committing crimes that should not be hidden and encouraged all to break the culture of silence to ensure perpetrators are made to face the consequences of their actions and survivors get justice.
On his part, Hon. Olakunle Oladotun, the Chairman, Onigbongbo LCDA noted that the walk served as an effective platform to engage the community on the importance of reporting the SGBV menace whenever it occurs in their respective domains as the State Government has declared a Zero tolerance stance on all sexual and gender-based cases in Lagos.
He stressed that Onigbongbo LCDA will not be left out of the Clarion call against the SGBV menace.
The participants engaged with commuters and residents and also distributed SGBV materials such as leaflets, posters, and contact information for local support services aimed to inform and empower the community to address and seek help for SGBV issues.
