LAGOS HONOURS 19 RETIRED PERMANENT SECRETARIES WITH ‘PENS DOWN’ CEREMONY  

The Lagos State Government has held a ‘Pens Down’ ceremony for 19 Permanent Secretaries who retired statutorily between January and December, 2022. 

The Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat while congratulating the retirees on the occasion of their exit from the Service, stated that they have been pivotal in keeping afloat the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda of the present administration in Lagos State. 

Hamzat, who was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Establishment, Training and Pension, Mrs. Ajibola Ponnle, said all the retiring Permanent Secretaries, had contributed immensely to the success story of the present administration in the past three and half years in the State.  

“Let me use this opportunity to say that in the past three and half years, all of you retirees immensely contributed to the success of the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda of the present administration. Be it in the Education sector, health, infrastructure, environment, road rehabilitation and construction “, Hamzat said. 

Earlier in his address, the Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, said that all the retirees contributed diligently to the growth and advancement of Lagos State, just as he expressed the State Government’s appreciation and gratitude for their loyalty, commitment, dedication and untold sacrifices while in the Service. 

Reminding the retirees of the need to pay attention to their personal health and wellness, the Head of Service said: “I have no doubt in my mind that you will deploy your skills, wide knowledge and extensive administrative and managerial experience garnered over the years to continue to add value to yourselves, your communities and to Lagos State as a whole”.  

“As the newest members of  the Association of Lagos State Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries, the government would continue to look forward to benefiting from your vast reservoirs of experience and knowledge, especially in policy formulation and implementation, in order to continue to move the State forward”, Muri-Okunola said.  

Also, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Office of the Head of Service, Mrs. Oyegbola Sunkanmi expressed sincere appreciation to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, for making the welfare of public servants a top priority. 

The 19 retired Permanent Secretaries include Mr. Isaac Olusina Thorpe Information and Strategy; Mr .Wasiu Adedamola Akewusola, Housing; Eng. Moroof Olawale Agoro, Waterfront Infrastructure and Development; Mrs. Olusola Oduguwa, Office of Central Internal Audit; Mr. Samson Olusegun Ajibade, Public Service Office and Mr. Sunday Agboade Jokotola, Education District IV. 

Others are Mrs. Adenike Adedoyin-Ajayi, Tourism; Mr. Sewedo Oluseyi Whenu, Home Affairs; Mrs. Kikelomo Morenike Sanyaolu, Local Government and Community Affairs; Mrs. Toyin Olamide Machado-Onanuga, Teaching Service Commission; Mrs. Margaret Titilayo Solarin, Education District I; Mr. Olaolu Olujimi Ige, Wealth Creation and Empowerment; Mr. Sikiru Adeniji Salami, Office of the State Auditor General, Mrs. Adetutu Abiola Liadi, Economic Planning and Budget and others.
