LASRRA REGISTRATION: IKORODU RESIDENTS COMMEND WEEKEND ENROLMENT EXERCISE

Traditional rulers, Community leaders, Market men and women in Ikorodu axis have commended the adoption of Weekend Mass Registration exercise of the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency, LASRRA, aimed at registering all residents of the State.

Explaining the rationale behind the weekend mass registration exercise, the General Manager of the Agency, Mrs. Kemi Adelusi, disclosed that the concept of the weekend registration was initiated to increase the numbers of registered residents in the State.

She added that the Agency has also decided to extend and provide an opportunity to residents who might not have the chance during the week to register but can use the weekend registration as an alternative.

Adelusi remarked that the LASRRA is well placed to register everyone in Lagos in line with its mandate of registering and issuing residency cards to residents of the State in order to provide the State Government with a reliable demographic database to assist her in the effective planning allocation of resources.

The traditional rulers – the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, HRM Oba Kabiru Shotobi; the Sekumade of Ipakodo, HRM Oba Bashiru Sotanwa as well as the Oba of Igbogbo Land – commended the Agency for its approach to register the residents of Ikorodu division and the weekend style adopted for the registration exercise.

Also, the market women in the area led by the Iyaoloja of Owutu Market, Alhaja Bameke specifically commended the General Manager of LASRRA, Mrs. Kemi Adelusi for initiating the weekend registration exercise and for being the first General Manager to bring the exercise to the Community.

Other Community Leaders like the Publisher of Oriwu Sun Community newspaper based in Ikorodu, Alhaji Monsor Olowosago, the Chairman Nasfat Islamic Group in Ikorodu, Alhaji Mukaila Longe also applauded the Agency for the Initiative.
