LASUBEB PARTNERS LAGOS TASK FORCE ON SCHOOL SAFETY
The Executive Chairman, Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mr. Wahab Alawiye-King, has led a delegation comprising of Members, Secretary and Directors of the Board on an inter-agency collaborative visit to the Chairman, Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Task Force), CSP Shola Jejeloye.
Speaking during the visit, the SUBEB Chairman requested the support of the Unit in eradicating indiscriminate vandalisation of school property, removal of shanties and dislodgement of hoodlums around school territories, as well as curtailing encroachment on school lands by residents.
Alawiye-King explained that the presence of hoodlums around school environments is not only a threat to the pupils and teachers, but also a red flag in any society.
He appreciated the Task Force for their relentless efforts in law enforcement within the State, pleading that the Unit should support the Board with armed officers for adequate monitoring and enforcement duties whenever the need arises.
In his remarks, CSP. Jejeloye thanked the SUBEB delegation for the visit and request for support, promising that the outfit would provide the Board with all necessary assistance in terms of monitoring and enforcement.
“Exposure of pupils to criminal activities can cause unnecessary distraction as well as unsettle our school children. This is why we are happy with the request by the Board and ready to respond anytime we are called upon for the safety and wellbeing of the students”, he said.
