OFFICE OF AUDITOR GENERAL FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENTS TRAINS TEAM LEADS

The Lagos State Government has harped on the need for Auditors in the Local Government tier to step up and be above board in the discharge of their duties and responsibilities.

The Permanent Secretary/Auditor General, Mr. Obafemi Ogunlana stated this at the commencement of a five-day in-house training for Audit Team Leads, charging participants to be vast in communication and professional writing skills. He also advised them to use the opportunity of the training to enhance their proficiency in report writing to achieve professional and career excellence.

His words, “Gone are the days when auditors just do the barest minimum, today’s auditors are expected to rise to the occasion by mastering skills that directly and indirectly contribute to their work delivery. And that is why we are having this training at a time like this”.

Ogunlana averred that the training was designed to broaden their knowledge, enhance their professional skills and how to ensure that communication is done effectively between the sender and the receiver of messages in the workplace.

The lead facilitator of the training, Ms. Esther Omodiagbe of Esta Lauren Resources said the training programme was to enhance the performances of Audit Team Leads and improve their job delivery specifically in the aspect of communicating, report writing and other professional writings.

Omodiagbe further emphasised how to ensure effective communication through the use of the English Language, the 7 Cs of effective communication and the fundamentals of effective writing skills.

The Participants expressed appreciation to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his continuous support for capacity building in the Lagos State workforce which is in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S PLUS Agenda.
