OLOWA FLAGS OFF EKOSHA FREE ENROLMENT FOR 1000 RESIDENTS

The Executive Chairman, Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa on Thursday flagged off the Eko Social Health Alliance Scheme (EKOSHA) for 1,000 residents of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government

While flagging off the exercise,  Hon. Olowa acknowledged that it is the Government’s responsibility to ensure basic quality healthcare services to its people, most especially at the grassroots level where the majority of the people cannot afford quality healthcare services which has led to the untimely death of loved ones.

In his words, “This is a health scheme packaged under the Lagos State Health Insurance Agency to address the yearning desires of the majority at a pocket-friendly and affordable rate to enable all citizens to access the package. Hence, the need for this initiative to give free enrolment to 1000 residents within Ibeju-Lekki communities”

“Our government has decided that we must provide health succour for our people. Our target is to register 1000 residents and pay N11,500 every year. All our PHCs have been rehabilitated to meet the health needs of our people, even those in the riverine areas of Arapagi town, they are going to be registered under this policy”, he said.

Olowa pointed out that quality healthcare services are the top priority hence the employment of qualified medical personnel with four medical doctors and 20 nurses by the Lagos State Health Service Commission in addition to functional medical equipment at various Primary Healthcare Centres within Ibeju-Lekki communities.

In her remarks, the representative of LASHMA, Mrs. Mojisola Ojo, intimated the people on the process of registration as they are free to choose the health centres of their choice.

She added that part of the package covered by the plan includes treatment of the eye with free eyeglasses, a dental appointment with the dentist, a free Caesarian Section which covers the baby for 28 days, tuberculosis treatment, malaria and typhoid fever among others.

She advised beneficiaries to keep their registered policy number as they would be using it to access their health need in their various hospitals and that there are also registered community pharmacies to dispense drugs that were not available in the PHCs free of charge.

Beneficiaries of the scheme appreciated the Chairman and his executive for providing succour to them regarding their health needs.
