ORILE AGEGE GH HOLDS STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT RETREAT

The Orile Agege General Hospital (OAGH) has recently held a strategic retreat, themed: “Service Operations Management: Organising for Excellent Service Delivery”, for all its management staff at the Golfview Hotel GRA, Ikeja,

In his opening address at the retreat, the Chairman of the occasion and Commissioner II, Lagos State Health Service Commission, Dr. Mobolaji Olukoya, congratulated the management and staff of the hospital on its recent recognition by the Office of Transformation Creativity and Innovation (OTCI) for its transformation initiative to enhance service delivery.

He explained that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has invested so much in the State’s healthcare service with lots of improvements in hospital infrastructure and human capital development in order to enhance service delivery and provide residents with top-notch medical care.

Olukoya averred that the retreat is a signal of the beginning of a new dawn and an obvious paradigm shift in healthcare services at the Orile Agege General Hospital.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Health Service Commission (HSC), Dr. Ademuyiwa Eniayewun commended the leadership of the Hospital, imploring them to continue to treat their patients as kings and Queens while making efforts to reduce the waiting time for those in need of urgent medical services.

“This retreat is designed to build the capacity of staff for more performance. The hospital is taking a new turn and members of staff are doing well. You should work as a team, and support the MD who is committed to the training and re-training of staff. I want to enjoin the workforce, particularly senior officers to mentor the junior ones for continuity in improved service delivery”, Eniayewun said.

Earlier, the Managing Director/CEO of Orile Agege General Hospital, Dr. Sola Pitan, said this year’s strategic management retreat is in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration of a well-functioning communication and cooperation framework through excellent service delivery to the people.

His words: “As health providers/managers you should focus on providing qualitative healthcare service to our dear clients, it is pertinent for you to engage in thought-provoking-presentation and lively exchanges of views. I would also strongly encourage participants to take advantage of the opportunity to actively network, as this will enhance communication and cooperation among professionals and between the health providers and our clients”.

Pitan stated further that his administration has brought a lot of improvement in infrastructure and human capacity development to the facility with the renovation and redesigning of the General Outpatient Department (GOPD), renovation of the Medical Outpatient Emergency Department (MOPED) and Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) clinic and the establishment of ward managers for seamless operation among others.

“The retreat would take a look at the past and present activities of the Hospital, how to improve its services to cater to premium clients within the community and reduce the waiting time to see a doctor and the patient’s journey through General Outpatient Department (GOPD). We also intend to look at how the hospital can achieve zero maternal mortality, learn how to improve on infrastructure development, hospital environment and what we can learn from other hospitals that are doing well in delivering quality healthcare services to the people” he added.

He, therefore, encouraged participants to prepare themselves to learn, relearn and unlearn as the outcome of the retreat would help draw a strategic roadmap for the hospital in the year 2023.
