TOURISM COMMISSIONER COMMEMORATESBIRTHDAY WITH WIDOWS EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME 

In a heartfelt expression of gratitude to God, the Honourable Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka chose to celebrate her birthday anniversary today by spending it with widows at a Widows Feast and Empowerment Programme. 

The event, organized by the International Women’s Society, took place at the Society Skills Acquisition Centre in Lekki. Mrs. Benson-Awoyinka’s participation underscores her commitment to community service and her dedication to empowering vulnerable groups within society.

During the programme, the Honourable Commissioner engaged with the widows, offering words of encouragement and support. She also participated in various activities designed to empower the women, including skills training sessions aimed at enhancing their economic opportunities.

Mrs. Benson-Awoyinka’s decision to celebrate her birthday in this manner highlights her deep sense of compassion and her unwavering commitment to uplifting the lives of those in need.

Also, speaking at the event the President of the Society, Dame Olabisi Alokolaro admonished the women to be strong and to see themselves as brilliant, stylish beautiful and unique.

She also urged them to make themselves useful and constantly learn something new to enhance their earning powers.

The Chairperson, Widows Trust Fund, Mrs. Banke Adeola remarked that the organisation is dedicated to empowering Widows and improving their quality of life and that their events celebrate their strength and resilience.

The empowerment tools distributed at the event include sewing machines, hair dryers, cake mixers, industrial cooking gas and freezers, amongst others.
