Lagos State Pilgrims currently performing the 2022/1443 A. H Ramadan Umrah (Lesser Hajj) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have offered prayers for Lagos State as well as the success of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration.
The prayer session, held on Monday, was part of the lecture series organised by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Islamic matters, Mr. Ahmad Abdullahi Jebe, at the Ajiyad Mukaram Hotel, Makkah, in addition to other spiritual activities designed to sensitise the pilgrims on the significance of Umrah in the life of the Muslims.
During one of the lectures on the topic: “What are the Qualities of a Man of God”, the Deputy Head of Operations in the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Imam Soliu Olohungbebe, said that Allah made human beings the head of all His creation and Prophet Mohammad (SAW) the head of all other prophets ordained by Him.
The Imam noted that observing the five daily prayers, fasting during the month of Ramadan, payment of Zakat and performing other pillars of Islam does not fully qualify anyone as a man of God.
Quoting the Holy Qur’an Chapter 25 Verses 51-77, Olohungbebe identified what qualifies a person as a man of God to include humility, peacefulness, patience, steadfastness in the religion, prudence in spending their God-given wealth, being frugal and belief in the Oneness of Allah in every situation they might find themselves, among others.
Olohungbebe stressed that those with such qualities would be rewarded with Aljanat Fridaus by Allah on the day of resurrection.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Islamic Matters, Mr. Abdullahi Jebe, appreciated the political leaders, government officials and other pilgrims present at the lecture on behalf of Mr. Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.
He also assured participants of more spiritually fulfilling and rewarding lectures throughout the Umrah period.
Dignitaries at the lecture include the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba; Justice AbdulLateef Lawa-Akapo and Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi.
Others are Osolo of Isolo, Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka; Ranodu of Imota, Oba Mudashiru Bakare-Agoro and members of Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
